The SMIA values service as a fundamental element of our recovery, and reinforces unity, so the three legacies are fulfilled. Those who have committed themselves to the spirit of the 12th Step often find the personal benefits have been astounding, even if they don't recognize it right away. Often, the joy we attain from a service driven life comes on subltly and simply becomes part of the fabric of our lives. We no longer feel like we 'have to do it", but rather that we enjoy it.

The Lifeline publishes "Spotlight On Service" to give our members an opportunity to highlight how service work has impacted their road to recovery, and how it has enriched their lives.

We publish this article monthly, and we welcome your stories. If you would like to include your story, please complete the form below.
