The Southern Maryland Intergroup Association has served the community since 1977.

The tri-county area covers over 1600 square miles, larger than that of the whole state of Rhode Island.

The places we call home are North Beach, Chesapeake Beach, Solomons Island, Lexington Park, Charlotte Hall, Prince Frederick, Waldorf, La Plata, St. Leonard, Lusby, California, and yes, even Hollywood. We go south to Point Lookout at the mouth of the Potomac River, west to the sleepy little town of Nanjemoy, north to Dunkirk and Owings, and we're flanked to the east by the beautiful Chesapeake Bay. If you're visiting, enjoy your stay and contact us if you need directions and meeting times. There are 132 physical and on-line meetings throughout the week in the tri-county area, so you should find something that appeals to you.

If you already call this wonderful area home, and you're new to the fellowship, SMIA is committed to serving you too!

The SMIA meets monthly on the 2nd Saturday of each month at the Immaculate Conception Church in Mechanicsville, MD.

The SMIA Business Meeting will be held on 5/10/25 at 10:00 AM.

There will be two options to attend. You may attend in person or on-line via Zoom Meeting.

The Zoom link for the May SMIA business meeting will be made available the morning of the meeting

We encourage all groups in the Southern Maryland Area to participate in the SMIA. When groups participate in the intergroup, they build relationships with other AA members and groups, fostering cooperation and shared experience. Having strong group representation at intergroup meetings helps keep the local AA community vibrant, effective, and true to AA’s primary purpose: to help alcoholics achieve sobriety.

You can pre-order your literature and medallions by visiting the on-line Bookstall by clicking the button below

Materials from the SMIA Bookstall can be picked up on the second Saturday of each month at 9:00 AM

The SMIA Bookstall is also open on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month at 6:00 PM

It is important to note, the SMIA does not ship or deliver material. All orders must be picked up from our business office. Visit the AA World Services Literature store for delivery orders by clicking below.
