The Southern Maryland Intergroup Association has served the community since 1977.

The tri-county area covers over 1600 square miles, larger than that of the whole state of Rhode Island.

The places we call home are North Beach, Chesapeake Beach, Solomons Island, Lexington Park, Charlotte Hall, Prince Frederick, Waldorf, La Plata, St. Leonard, Lusby, California, and yes, even Hollywood. We go south to Point Lookout at the mouth of the Potomac River, west to the sleepy little town of Nanjemoy, north to Dunkirk and Owings, and we're flanked to the east by the beautiful Chesapeake Bay. If you're visiting, enjoy your stay and contact us if you need directions and meeting times. There are 129 physical and on-line meetings throughout the week in the tri-county area, so you should find something that appeals to you.

If you already call this wonderful area home, and you're new to the fellowship, SMIA is committed to serving you too!

The SMIA meets monthly on the 2nd Saturday of each month at the Immaculate Conception Church in Mechanicsville, MD.

Our Primary Purpose is the official podcast from the General Service Office (GSO) of Alcoholics Anonymous for the U.S. and Canada. Through interviews with GSO staff and voices from A.A. history and the Fellowship today, we explore how GSO supports A.A. to carry the message of recovery to those who need it most, which is Our Primary Purpose.
